🔏 Understanding Your Notarization Options with OMA Services, LLC
Not all notarizations are the same—and knowing the difference matters. Here’s a quick breakdown of the services we offer:

✔️ IPEN (In-Person Electronic Notarization) OMA Services, LLC offers modern notarization performed face-to-face using electronic documents and signatures. Fast, secure, and approved for use since 2006.
✔️ EVN (Emergency Video Notarization) A temporary solution where OMA Services, LLC allowing notarization via video connection. Documents still require a wet ink signature and official stamp. Currently available but expected to end July 1, 2026 (or sooner if replaced).
✔️ REN (Remote Electronic Notarization) Fully remote notarization—similar to RON used in other states. This option is not yet available for us to perform, but we’re ready when it becomes accessible or we can facilitate notarization via assistance of our partners.
All RENA rules were adopted on May 28, 2025, and will take effect on July 1, 2025. According to the RENA statute, technical providers must submit applications and receive approval from the Secretary of State before remote electronic notarizations can occur, and notaries must be certified by the Secretary to conduct these notarizations. Despite multiple requests from the Secretary, the General Assembly has not provided any funding to implement this significant program, resulting in the department being underfunded. The Secretary aims to receive technical provider applications by late September 2025 and to start training notaries on the new rules in August 2026. Emergency Video Notarization will continue to be available to all North Carolina notaries until either July 1, 2026, or when a RENA platform provider is first approved by the Secretary, whichever comes first.
